Before you send me your stems, here are some things to keep in mind...

Send 3 - 5 Separate Stems In WAV or AIFF Format

Here's an example of what that could be:

  • STEM 1:  a bounce of the drums and percussion tracks you'd like me to replace.

  • STEM 2: a bounce of the guitars, bass, piano minus vocals and drums.

  • STEM 3: a bounce of the vocals and background vocals minus the music and drums.

  • STEM 4: a bounce of the percussion/loops that you'd like me to work with.

Bounce The Tracks As Stereo Interleaved Files

Include The Tempo In The Title Of Each Track That You Send

Your stem files should be titled as follows:

Song title or abbreviation for longer names, file content, and BPM.

Here's an example of what that might look like:

  • "my song" DRUMS 86BPM

  • "my song" TRACK 86BPM

  • "my song" PERC LOOP 86BPM

  • "my song" VOX 86BPM

Make Sure That The Files You Send Are Locked Into The Internal Grid Of Your DAW

Any external time keeping source whether it be a drum machine or metronome will have a drift factor which will not lock in perfectly to a DAW grid.

Bounce Each File From The Very Beginning Of Your Session

Even if there's a bunch of empty space before your track actually starts make sure that it's from the very beginning.  This will allow me to easily line up your tracks in pro tools.

If Your Song Includes Meter Or Tempo Changes, Then Include A MIDI File Of The Meter Or Tempo Changes

Make Sure Your Stem Tracks Are As Solid As Possible!

It's very important you play as tightly as possible to the metronome/click when creating your scratch tracks.  This will enable me to play tighter and give you better drum tracks for your song.

*Note*

Your scratch tracks do not have to be your final tracks.  You can always redo them later when I send you the final drum tracks.
